Prize Ceremony


Renowned for championing new poetic voices and internationally celebrated writers alike, the Forward Prizes for Poetry showcase the diverse excellence of contemporary poetry, and all its boundary-pushing innovations.

The 2024 Ceremony took place at The Gala Theatre, Durham on 10 October, with 20 shortlisted poets reading to an audience of over 500, as well as a live-stream audience at home.

Hosted by Joelle Taylor and chairs of judges Craig Chaarles, the winners were:

  • Best Collection: Victoria Chang, with my back to the world (Corsair)

  • Best First Collection: Marjorie Lotfi, The Wrong Person to Ask (Bloodaxe)

  • Best Single Poem – Written: Cindy Juyoung Ok, ‘Ward of One’ (Poetry London)

  • Best Single Poem – Performed: Leyla Josephine, ‘Dear John Berger’

I have worked as the producer for the Forward Prize Ceremony since 2023, coordinating the logistics of the day including the script and running order, logistics of all shortlisted poets’ performances, live-streaming, captioning and BSL interpretation.
