World Book Day

The UK’s largest Reading for Pleasure campaign

World Book Day changes lives through a love of books and reading. It offers every child and young person in the UK a £1/€1.50 book token, and publishes a specially-curated list of £1/€1.50 books, available for purchase in February and March.

Since 2023 I have managed World Book Day’s programme of author events for children, working with writers such as Lenny Henry, Tom Percival, Tọlá Okogwu, Rob Biddulph, Rosie Jones, Sophy Henn, Joe Wicks and Waterstones Childrens Laureate Joseph Coelho. This includes events reaching over 900 children at Bradford Alhambra, to patients at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Additionally, I manage a network of over 30 library services located in disadvantaged areas, delivering targeted outreach work to engage children and young people with the World Book Day offer. This involves the distribution of over 165,000 World Book Day books, reaching a targeted readership via local community engagement programmes, prison services, local libraries and food banks.
